Far too early predictions for the 2021 football schedule in Georgia
Georgia’s 2021 schedule was announced Wednesday. With the spring and fall practice still ahead, of course, a lot will change at this Georgia team.

But it is also never too early to look at the full page and see how Georgia can fare during the 2021 season. We started making a far too early project-by-match projection for the 2021 season.
Clemson, September 4, Charlotte: This match will be a leading factor for Georgia’s season. Win, and the Bulldogs are likely to rise to number 1 spot in the polls. Lose, and the noise that Kirby Smart can’t win big games gets louder, even if it’s untrue.
The state of Ohio has given a blueprint on how to beat Clemson. Hold a defensive line that can overwhelm Clemson’s biggest weakness, the offensive line, and receivers who can play deep against the secondary. On paper, it appears Georgia has both.
However, the Bulldogs have exactly the same concerns. These two teams are very similar and Georgia can absolutely win this match. Part of the reason I chose Clemson is just because I do not have the chance to declare Georgia to end 12-0 in the regular season. Clemson 31, Georgia 26
UAB, September 11, Athens: Some will notice UAB as a group of 5-team and write it off. However, this is not a cupcake game. Under Bill Clark, the Blazers have been 34-16 over the past four seasons. Just like an Arkansas state in 2019 or an Appalachian state in 2017, Georgia will not be able to use this team easily.
Still, Georgia needs to be able to flex its muscles, as long as Clemson’s performance does not affect this game too strongly in any direction. Georgia 38, UAB 10
South Carolina, September 18, Athens: The last time South Carolina came to Sanford Stadium, it appeared with a stunning 20-17 upset over the Bulldogs. While Georgia will never publicly admit that it is a motivating factor, the game on September 18 will be in mind.
It will also be Shane Beamer’s first SEC conference game as head coach. It will come against one of his former bosses as Beamer coached in Georgia in 2016 and 2017.
The locker room in South Carolina is not empty, as Will Muschamp has recruited pretty well this past season, but it’s a game Georgia needs to win convincingly. This, of course, was supposed to be the case the last time these two met. Georgia 41, South Carolina 13
Vanderbilt, September 25, Nashville: The Commodores also have a first-year head coach in Clark Lea. He has an uphill battle regarding the restoration of a Vanderbilt program that was 0-9 last season.
Georgia and Vanderbilt did not play in 2020 due to COVID issues within the Vanderbilt program. The cancellation of the match cost Georgia a chance to have a senior day. Some may point to it as a motivating factor, but Georgia does not need it for this match. Georgia is just much, much better. Georgia 52, Vanderbilt 3
Arkansas, October 2, Athens: After Beamer returns to Athens in September, Sam Pittman will do so to begin October. Pittman’s first game as head coach took place against Georgia in 2020. While the final score was 37-10, the Razorbacks took a 10-5 halftime lead.
In Pittman’s first year, the Razorbacks showed great improvements. They also bring back both coordinators in Barry Odom and Kendal Briles. Georgia has improved since that game with JT Daniels at quarterback, but the Razorbacks will not be an incentive. Georgia 34, Arkansas 16
Auburn, October 9, Auburn, Ala .: This will be the third first-year head coach Georgia sees at this point in the season, with Bryan Harsin taking over for Gus Malzahn.
Auburn played LSU last week and pulled the Bulldogs into a difficult time in its schedule. Georgia had last season with Auburn, and that was before the Tigers had to replace wide receivers Seth Williams and Anthony Schwartz.
Bo Nix and Tank Bigsby return for Auburn, and Mike Bobo is now calling plays for the Tigers. Derek Mason is a reputed defensive mind and although the Tigers may not have a Derek Brown player, they will still be a tough battle at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Georgia 27, Auburn 17
Kentucky, October 16, Athens, Ga .: While Georgia beat Kentucky under Smart every time, the Wildcats rarely made it easy. The Wildcats held Georgia by a season-low 14 points in 2020 and it scored just 21 the last time these two teams met in Athens.
The Wildcats are also bringing back a lot of talent from their 2020 team. Kentucky does have a new attacking coordinator, as Liam Coen takes over for Eddie Gran. The Wildcats are still worried about quarterbacks, but given the fifth consecutive SEC game in Georgia, you should not expect the Bulldogs to soften in the off week. Georgia 23, Kentucky 6
Florida, October 30, Jacksonville, Fla .: This game is the best to clinch the two favorites in the SEC East. Florida won the 2020 game 44-28, thanks to a good performance by Kyle Trask and a poor performance by Stetson Bennett and D’Wan Mathis.
The Bulldogs will have Daniels as a quarterback in this game – in addition to an injury – while the Gators will have a new quarterback in Emory Jones or Anthony Richardson. Georgia should have the lead on quarterbacks, and that should give the Bulldogs the lead over the Gators. Georgia 37, Florida 24
Missouri, November 6, Athens, Ga .: Missouri has a very favorable schedule to start with 2021, before Texas A&M and Georgia are drawn on the back half of the schedule. The Tigers competed 5-5 in the first year with Eli Drinkwitz, possibly exceeding expectations.
But Georgia dominated the Tigers when these two teams met on December 12, Jordan Davis played a major role in stopping the run, while George Pickens destroyed secondary Missouri. With both back, except Georgia to win again. Georgia 45, Missouri 17
Tennessee, Nov. 13, Knoxville, Tenn .: The volunteers have a new head coach in Josh Heupel as he was officially introduced on Wednesday. But the volunteers have already seen a number of their top players exchange, such as leading rusher Eric Gray heading to Oklahoma.
This is Georgia’s last SEC game of the season, and the Bulldogs can clinch the SEC East at this point. Tennessee is such a mess at this point that it’s hard to see how they will be competitive against elite teams like the Bulldogs. Georgia 55, Tennessee 24
Charleston Southern, November 20, Athens, Ga .: We do not have to think too much about this. It was very refreshing in 2020 to have no FCS opponents to discuss Georgia’s schedule. Georgia 55, Charleston Southern 7
Georgia Tech, November 27, Atlanta: The Yellow Jackets return to the roster in 2021, with Georgia ending its regular season in Atlanta. Georgia did not get the chance to play Georgia Tech in 2020 because the SEC is leading to a conference-only one.
Geoff Collins needs a few things to get off to a good start in his third season, as the Yellow Jackets have won just three games in his first two years. We do not think they will have a good day against Georgia. Georgia 48, Georgia Tech 14
Predicted record: 11-1, 8-0 in SEC game
