Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars fan favorites Ahsoka Tano (voiced by Ashley Eckstein / shown in live action by Rosario Dawson) and Bo-Katan Kryze (both voiced and portrayed in live action by Katee Sackhoff) both turned up to Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) help and Grogu (AKA The Child AKA Baby Yoda) in various episodes of The Mandalorian Season 2, including the epic season finale (“Chapter 16: The Rescue”).

Now, as we prepare for the first of many Mandalorian spinoffs – The book by Boba Fett, which releases December 2021 – fans are campaigning for a different character from Dave Filoni Clone Wars to be thrown into live action.

Slashfilm has this to say about treasure hunter Cad Bane, who first appeared in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 1 Final Episode (“Hostage Crisis”):

With his big eyes and narrow, long face, Bane presents a stranger who looks very strange. However, it is neutralized by its Western influence on Spaghetti. Lanes wear a wide brimmed hat and chew on toothpicks. He speaks with a dry, sharp pull. From his opening moments, Bane steals the screen and demands attention through sheer coolness. If Clint Eastwood were a Star Wars character, he would be.

That coolness is magnified by the fact that Cad Bane, although he does not have superpowers or anything, is an incredible treasure hunter, thief, kidnapper and everything people pay him to be. The character repeatedly gets up the Jedi and walks away unharmed.

Jobs are not a crucial character in Clone Wars. As Slashfilm notes, he feels almost nothing but ‘interesting side noise’ amid a war-torn galaxy. However, it can best fit Mandalorian Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni’s next chapter, The book by Boba Fett, who will portray Temuera Morrison as the iconic pruner-bounty hunter and Ming-Na Wen as sniper Fennec Shand – and, as The Mandalorian Season 2’s final awards for credits are any indication: we’re back to Tatooine, where crime syndicates (hi, Jabba the Hutt and Bib Fortuna) have been raging for 40 years of the Skywalker Saga.

Although Bane does not necessarily play a critical role in the overarching story of Clone Wars, he has developed a large number, and many fans prefer him over other villains in the animated series, such as Moralo Eval and even Count Dooku.

It all sounds to Bane as the perfect setting to make his live action debut in the Star Wars universe. Star Wars fans agree – let’s take a look at the social media buzz.
