Fans are convinced that the guardians are ‘safe’ with Taika Waititi

One of the main reasons why Marvel fans love the Marvel Cinematic Universe? They see how all their favorite characters interact. Before the MCU, it was rare for multiple superheroes to appear in one movie. Unlike team movies like the X-Men, these movies mostly focus on one main character.

Now? This is to the point where fans are amazed when more than one hero does not appear in an MCU movie. One of the most successful partnerships was Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy. Let’s take a look at their interaction, what the plans are for them and why fans think the Guardians are ‘safe’ in the hands of director Taika Waititi.

Thor and the Guardians’ interaction so far in the MCU

Thor met the Guardians of the Galaxy during the events of Avengers; Infinity War. After Thanos attacks a refugee ship full of Asgardians, Thor is killed in space, and it is the Guardians who find him.

They join him in the battle against Thanos. Thor, Rocket and Great finally get a new weapon for Thor and take part in the battle against the Mad Titan on earth. Unfortunately, all the Guardians, but Rocket, perish with Thanos’ snap.

Once the snap is reversed, the Guardians return in the final battle against Thanos. After helping to defeat him and his army, they allowed Thor to join their continued adventures. Thor hands over the title of king to Valkyrie and the new group (one that Thor calls the “Asgardians of the Galaxy”) leaves the planet.

It is unclear exactly what the adventures of this new group will look like, but one thing is certain: their interaction is not done. Marvel has announced a fourth Thor movie and a third Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Shoot for Thor: Love and thunder is in progress, and it is confirmed that the guardians appear in it.

What can fans of this union expect? Anything is possible, but since the movie is so crowded, an extensive Guardians cameo may be on the table. Expect the guardians in the first act to be heavy, with the plot removing them as Thor’s main story unfolds.

So far in the MCU, James Gunn has directed all the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Marvel puts the characters in the hands of the Russo Brothers for the Infinity Saga. Now they will entrust them Thor: Love and thunder director Taika Waititi.

It does not look like this is going to be a problem for fans of the series. A recent Reddit thread discussing the collaboration between Gunn and Waititi has allayed fears that Waititi would not serve the characters well:

‘Honestly, Taika just looks like a more insane version of Gunn when it comes to MCU movies. This is by no means a bad thing for either of them, but it is logical that the Guardians will therefore be safe at Taika. ”

So are the Guardians safe? As Thor: Ragnarok is absolutely any indication. Waititi shows that he is skilled in directing superhero action comedy. Thor: Ragnarok was successful at almost every level. That movie was also a superhero ensemble.

Waititi did well in integrating various characters such as Valkyrie, Loki, Hulk, Korg and Miek. There is no reason to think he will not be able to do the same with the Guardians.

In short, Marvel fans can rest assured. There is little doubt these popular characters at Waititi will be in the right hands.
