Fallen Order developer is creating a new franchise

Apex Legends, Titanfall, en Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order the developer Respawn Entertainment has been very busy for the past few years and now there is new information coming out that indicates that the studio will not slow down any time soon. Not only has Respawn worked hard on all of the above titles, but it is apparently starting to put together a team to develop a whole new IP.

Considered in a new Respawn mailing list, the studio wants to actively work for the role of a Generalist Software Engineer. While it would usually be nothing to write about, the position is reportedly specific to a new team set up internally to work on a new property. Of course, Respawn does not indicate what this new IP might look like, but it does indicate that this team is currently quite small and still in the “incubation” phase.

This last point is very interesting as it can indicate what type of project Respawn can work on. If this team is meant to be small during the entire development of this title, it might be a minute larger scale than we were used to in the studio. This development team can grow very easily in the future, once the idea for this new franchise is properly depleted.

It is noteworthy that if Respawn is looking for staff for a new project, it could spell bad news for those still hoping for a third Titanfall entry. With the Apex Legends developers who continue to work on the multiplayer title and the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order team surely starts to struggle on a sequel, it’s hard to see where a third Titanfall game fits in, especially when this new group is creating something new.

However, one thing is for sure with this step – Respawn grows to a reasonable degree. Not only did the studio juggle all the games mentioned earlier, but also a new VR version Medal of Honor game titled Over and above earlier this month. In short, Respawn is becoming one of the largest studios owned by Electronic Arts.

Given how early in development this job description constitutes the mystery project, chances are we will not hear of this title in public for some time. Of course, when that happens, we’ll keep you posted on ComicBook.com.

So, what do you hope to see Respawn do next with this mysterious IP? And do you think about the chances Titanfall 3 arrive is now even slimmer? Let me know in the comments or follow me on Twitter @ MooreMan12 to talk more.
