Falcons call Terry Fontenot general manager

Fontenot was then made Loomis’ right-hand man in 2020 when his role expanded to become vice president / assistant general manager of professional staff.

“For the past 18 years, I have been honored and blessed with the opportunity to learn and grow within a good organization,” Fontenot said. “I do not have the words to express my gratitude and thanks to the late Mr. Benson, Mrs. Benson, Mickey Loomis, Dennis Lauscha, Coach Payton and the entire Saints family. Without their mentorship and guidance, I would not be in the position I am today, and we are grateful for all that they have provided our family for almost two decades.

“Because of their leadership and the opportunities they offered me, I was selective in which direction my career would take, focusing on organizations that were in line with my principals and goals. With the Atlanta Falcons, I found the perfect opportunity for me the next step in the family I feel honored and grateful that Arthur Blank and Rich McKay gave me the privilege and I look forward to working with the two of them, Arthur Smith and our entire organization, as we strive together “to achieve our competitive goals and our fans the performances they deserve. My family and I are delighted to make our new home in Atlanta and look forward to meeting our fellow Falcon fans.”
