Factual checkpoints falsely claim that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, falsified the first pregnancy

Social media users have shared posts online alleging that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, used prosthetics to delay her pregnancy with her son, Archie. This allegation, which shows strange shapes in a dress she wore as ‘proof’ during pregnancy, is untrue.

Examples can be seen here and here. One report reads: “Whose baby is this? What’s your angle? I’ll buy it! – All she had to do was ‘act pregnant’. ”

The photos used in the post were taken on January 14, 2019 in Birkenhead, England and can be seen here on Getty Images, here and here. Meghan and her husband, Prince Harry, visited Tomorrow’s Women Wirral Charity and Hamilton Square to see a new statue erected for the 100th anniversary of Wilfred Owen’s death.

The couple’s son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was born on May 6, 2019, according to his birth certificate, visible at www.bbc.com/news/uk-48315300, obtained by the BBC. It contains other information, including the place of birth.

The couple took pictures with their baby here two days later.

The reports show here and here on two photos, where Meghan’s belly does not look as big as on other photos of the same day, like this one here.

This is due to the loose purple dress she is wearing, not because she is wearing a prosthetics. It looks like Meghan is walking on the two photos, causing the dress to move and causing folds in the fabric. A video of her on the day, where her belly can be seen throughout, can be seen here.

According to the website whatmeghanwore.net here, the dress of the Canadian retailer Aritzia is here and looks loose at the bottom.

There are many photos during her pregnancy where she is visibly pregnant, examples here, here and here.

A video showing Meghan at different points during her pregnancy can be seen here.

VERDICT

Untrue. There is no evidence that Meghan forged her pregnancy with her son Archie.
