The Pawar sneak hole

Using keyword search, we found that Sharad Pawar, then the Minister of Agriculture in the Union in the Congress-led UPA government, was slapped on November 24, 2011 by a man named Arvinder Singh, or Harvinder.

The incident took place at the headquarters of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) in the capital as Pawar left the building’s premises after attending a literary function. The whole incident was captured on camera. The viral video is a small part of an NDTV report on the 2011 incident.

The man, who was later arrested, allegedly attacked Pawar because of the rising prices of essential products. “This is my answer to corrupt politicians,” he shouted as he was dragged away by security guards.

According to news reports, Arvinder is the same man who previously slapped Sukhram, former telecommunications minister in the Union, on the premises of the Supreme Court in Delhi. Sukhram was sentenced to five years in prison in a corruption case.

Arvinder was arrested in 2019 after he was declared a proclaimed offender by a Delhi court in 2014 because he went missing during the trial. Therefore, it is confirmed that this incident of a man who slapped Sharad Pawar is from 2011 and has nothing to do with the leader’s recent comments about Tendulkar.
