Not an NYT article
The language of the viral article makes it look suspicious from the start. The bad sentences and grammatical errors are different from the editorial standards of “The New York Times”.
We searched for ‘The New York Times’ but could not find such an article or opinion on his website. We then searched for “Joseph Hope” in the site’s “Our people”Section, but could not find such a name in the list of profiles. This was odd given the fact that Joseph Hope claims to be the editor-in-chief of NYT in the social media posts.
We have an independent researcher named “Joseph Hope“Who writes for Asia Times. But none of his articles match the viral.
For further clarification, India Today reached out to Danielle Rhoades Ha, vice president, communications, at NYT. She returned the viral allegation, saying that no such article had been published in The New York Times and “No one named Joseph Hope works for The New York Times”.
She added: ‘The editor of The New York Times is Dean Baquet and he did not say or write the attached message. Our newsroom is independent and relies on original coverage from more than 1,700 journalists; our global report can be found at NYTimes.com. ”
In October 2020, ‘The New York Times’ wrote an article on Indo-China limit voltage, in which it is said: ‘Mr. Modi, a Hindu nationalist, has been heavily criticized for actions withdrawn by Muslims in India. ‘
Therefore, it is clear that the viral message in which it is alleged that Joseph Hope’s editor – in – chief Joseph Hope wrote an article in which he praised PM Modi. Joseph Hope also does not work at NYT, and no one else at the media organization has written such an article about PM Modi.
