A video of soldiers punching men is circulating on social media with the claim that the incident comes from India where Muslims are being dragged out of their homes and beaten by the Indian army.
The clip shows men in military uniform whipping and kicking some men while the officers instruct.
Several Facebook users posted the video with a Hindi caption translating to: ‘RSS has completely conquered India. Muslims are being dragged out of their homes and beaten. ”
India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) found that the video was of the Pakistani army questioning and assaulting suspected Taliban sympathizers. The video appeared on social media in 2009 and led to criticism against the Pakistani army.

AFWA investigation
We found that some YouTube users uploaded the video in 2019 claiming that it was the Indian army that defeated Kashmir Muslims.
Using InVID, we cut the video into key frames, and after performing a reverse search on each frame, we found news reports about the incident. In 2011, several news sites used the video, saying it was Pakistani soldiers who were questioning members of the “Taliban”.
If we dug deeper, we found that the video appeared on social media in 2009. According to BBC News, “Pakistani soldiers are apparently abusing Taliban suspects” in the video. The Pakistani army has said it is investigating the video because it is a serious allegation.
It was not clear where the video was shot, but it was probably somewhere in the Swat region. According to some news reports, the Pakistan Human Rights Commission has received numerous reports of extrajudicial killings and retaliation by security forces in Swat Valley after the army took over the territory of the Taliban.
Therefore, it is confirmed that the viral video has no connection with India and that it was cruel by the Pakistani army against alleged Taliban sympathizers.
