Fact Test: Did Gajendra Chauhan tweet in support of the man who knocked down the Muslim boy in Ghaziabad?

The name Shringi Yadav appeared on social media after a video of him assaulting a minor Muslim boy in Ghaziabad went viral. It is alleged that Yadav beat the boy at a temple for drinking water. Yadav and his accomplice Shivananda were arrested shortly after the incident.

Support on social media flooded in for the young boy, but also for Yadav, with the hat brand “IStandWithShringiYadav” trending on Twitter. And now some Facebook users claim that the “Mahabharat” famous actor and former FTII chairman Gajendra Chauhan also tweeted in support of the accused.

A screenshot of what looks like a tweet made by Chauhan is circulating, the text of which reads: ‘I am with Shringi Yadav. Nation with a nationalist. #IStandWithShringiYadav ”.

India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found that the viral image is changing. Until the filing of this story, Chauhan had not yet tweeted anything about the Ghaziabad incident.

The archived versions of the viral posts are stored here and here.

Truth behind the viral ‘tweet’

Chauhan has a verified Twitter account with a blue tick and the handle name “@Gajjusay”.

Although the viral screenshot also shows the same Twitter handle and profile photo, but with Advance Twitter Search, we could not notice that the actor ever posted any content similar to the Facebook post.

If we compare the screenshot with an original tweet, we found inconsistencies that show that the actor’s tweet was changed in the viral post. For example, the date and time format of the viral image does not match the current format of Twitter.

AFWA contacted Chauhan to confirm about the viral post. ‘Since I stay away from any common cause, I have not responded to this incident anywhere. This is a false message; “I have not tweeted anything like that yet,” he said.

Therefore, it is confirmed that the viral tweet spread as Chauhan’s support for the man accused of beating a Muslim boy in Ghaziabad is changing.
