A video claiming it was from Mumbai police arresting a group of men in broad daylight has gone viral on social media. Police are said to be arresting a number of terrorists who were hiding in a building in the Pydhonie area of southern Mumbai. The 27-minute video begins with three police jeeps arriving in front of an old building.
The video shows a number of policemen getting out of their jeeps and then forcibly dragging a group of men from inside the building. The jeeps are then driven away from the scene.
The caption in Hindi on such a video translates as “Terrorists captured from Pydhony area in South Mumbai”.

India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) found the allegation along with the video misleading. The viral video comes from a web series recording that took place on February 14 in the Pydhonie area of South Mumbai.

AFWA investigation
We contacted the Pydhonie police station for better clarity on the matter. Subhash Dudhgaonkar, senior inspector of the Pydhonie police station, confirmed to us that the video in question came from a recording on the web series that took place in Pydhonie on 14 February 2021, and not an actual police operation. He also claimed that no such terrorist arrest had taken place in the area recently.
AFWA also spoke to Sunil Padnekar, another police officer from the Pydhonie police station. ‘Mumbai police have already given permission for the February 14 shooting. We were all aware of it and it happened in a building near the police station on Ibrahim Rahmatullah Road. “Shortly after the recording of Sunday, however, the video in question began circulating with misleading allegations,” Padnekar said.
The DCP headquarters of the Mumbai police also confirmed to AFWA that such a terrorist arrest did not take place in the city of Mumbai recently.
A group of terrorists arrested in Mumbai city would also have made the news. However, we could not find any reliable media reports about such an incident.
We also found some social media pages alleges that the video in question originated from a recording in the web series that took place in Pydhonie.
AFWA also contacted the owner of Masti Kids, the owner of one of the shops on the ground floor of the building, which was seen in the video.
Asif Khan, the owner of the store, said: ‘The video in question is from Sunday 14 February. It was a movie or web series recording, we do not know exactly what. But we were all already informed about the survey and it took place between 07:00 and 12:00 noon. I usually open my store at 10:30 in the morning, but that day due to the shooting, I opened it in the afternoon. ”
It is therefore clear that the video in question came from a recording in the web series that took place in the Pydhonie area in South Mumbai and not from the police in Mumbai who arrested terrorists.
