International pop artist Rihanna and environmental activist Greta Thunberg have expressed their support for the ongoing farmers’ protest in India. Several Indian celebrities from films and sports also support the farmers’ agitation against the three farm laws of the center.
Amidst this is a screenshot of a commonly loaded tweet that was allegedly viral on social media by Indian playlist singer Caralisa Monteiro.
According to the screenshot, Monteiro tweeted: “Every time a Hindu is killed, I get orgasmic pleasure. Modi may be dreaming of Congress Mukt Bharat, but we will soon get Hindu Mukt India. Amen! ”
Several netizens took on the singer and shared the alleged ‘Hindu Mukt India’ tweet, along with the scream of a video from 2016 where she supported the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) during Goa’s Assembly elections.
The caption in one of these posts in Hindi translates as’ This is Kejriwal’s AAP Ambassador to Bollywood, Caralisa Monteiro. She gets orgasmic pleasure in killing Hindus. The truth is that the Hindus of Delhi decorated their stake by voting for a wicked Maoist like Kejriwal for free. ‘
Various netizens tweeted the same screaming claim against the Bollywood singer because of her alleged tweet that evokes common hatred.
India Today Anti Fake News War Room (AFWA) has found that the viral tweet in the name of Monteiro is false. The singer also made it clear through her verified Twitter manual that the tweet was not made by her and that a case has been registered on this matter.

AFWA investigation
During our investigation, we were unable to find the relevant tweet on the timeline of Monteiro’s verified Twitter handle. We also could not find any archive version of the tweet on any of the archiving sites.
The date of placement on the viral screengrab is January 1, 2021. However, we found that only one tweet from the singer was available on January 1 on her handle. It tweet was in connection with a logical Indian report on a survivor of gang rape and it was made around 20:50.
The name of the device used to post a tweet from a given user’s account is also shown in the space after the time and date of each tweet. However, the space for the name of the device is vacant in the viral tweet.
The number of retweets, quote tweets and preferences usually seen under the space for date and time are also missing in the viral screenshot. It is highly unlikely that a controversial tweet made by Monteiro’s verified handle, which has more than 36.4,000 followers, will get any preferences or retweets.
Here’s a comparison between a text-only tweet posted by Monteiro on her verified Twitter handle on February 4, 2021, and the viral screen grab in question.
In addition, the singer herself explained when the tweet in question went viral. ‘This is a fake tweet that will be reported. Not language I use. And not how I speak. Will formally lodge a complaint in this regard, ‘Monteiro tweeted in response to such a viral post.
Later she also said a case was registered on the matter.
It is therefore clear that the viral tweet on a “Hindu Mukt India” is false and is not tweeted by singer Caralisa Monteiro.
