Fact check: There is no evidence that mRNA vaccines cause recipients to suffer from a ‘cytokine storm’.

A report containing a lengthy quote allegedly written by an immunologist contains several false and unsupported claims about the use of mRNA vaccines.

The 200-word quote, shared more than 1,000 times in one post (here), referring to an mRNA vaccine, is a “ticking time bomb” that will have serious consequences as a ‘predetermined’ variant of COVID -19 be confronted. of the current vaccines are technically vaccines. The quote also contains the claim that this alleged variant will only be released if ‘everyone has been hacked’ to ensure that the disease cannot be cured.

“I used to work in the NHS as an immunologist, and when I heard the phrase mRNA vaccine, I knew exactly how it would probably be used,” the quote reads. ‘In fact, it’s a genetically modified time bomb that causes you to suffer a severe cytokine storm if you are later challenged with a predetermined variant of the Covid 19 virus. I think the later virus will be called Covid 21 or something similar. They have to wait until everyone is stuck, causing everyone’s immune system to change genetically, so they can be sure that there will be no more patient zeros in the world that can be used to create a drug. Do not have any of the so-called Covid vaccines, as this will not reduce or prevent the transmission of the virus, and therefore are not technically vaccinations. It is clearly a Trojan horse designed to be activated by a later variant that contains a specific genetic marker that will elicit the inevitable and deadly autoimmune response. ”

The report attributes the quote to an individual named ‘Andy Pears’ and a photo of what appears to be a staff card with the name and logo of the North Bristol NHS trust. NBT confirmed to Reuters on January 20 that Pears had undertaken a student position with the Trust about ten years earlier, but that no further educational or employment relationship existed with him. Reuters reached out to Pears via a Facebook message, but he was not available for comment.

CYTOKINE STORM

According to the text in the report, mRNA vaccines currently being administered for COVID-19 will pave the way for a “severe cytokine storm” if an immunized individual later comes face to face with a variant of the disease.

A cytokine storm describes a phenomenon in which the immune system overgrows (here). It has been linked to severe cases of COVID-19 (here), although its importance in relation to the disease is still under question (here, here).

These studies, from 2012 and 2016, warned about the possibility of increased immune responses in vaccinated mice that were later confronted with live versions of the viruses (here, here, here). However, Kent Te-Chien Tseng, a professor of microbiology and immunology at the University of Texas, and one of the authors of the 2012 study, told Reuters that mRNA vaccines were ‘very different vaccine platforms’ compared to those of nine. years previously used.

He said: “Yes, we should be careful about the safety of COVID-19 vaccines, but we should not panic / worry, just based on our previous report on mice. I feel that our earlier report raised the safety issue that has been taken seriously by various institutions, such as WHO, NIAID and many others, in the vaccine developers worldwide. “

A team of global health scientists and infection preventers at the Meedan Digital Health Lab said there was no evidence to suggest that mRNA COVID-19 vaccines or non-mRNA COVID-19 vaccines would lead to cytokine storms (here).

STICK AVAILABILITY

The text of the report states that COVID-19 vaccines “are not technically vaccines” because “they will not reduce or prevent the transmission of the virus”.

A vaccine trains the body to fight a disease it has not had before (here). This is what mRNA vaccines for COVID-19 also do – albeit in a different way than previously seen. In earlier vaccinations, there was talk of injecting a person with an attenuated or inactivated form of a virus, while mRNA vaccines instruct cells to make a specific protein that elicits an immune response (here).

These vaccines have been found to prevent the symptomatic and serious effects of COVID-19 (here). Further research is needed to determine if this also has an effect on the transfer (here), as it has not been tested in trials (here, here).

POPULATION VACCINATION

The quote in the text also indicates the existence of an overarching plan to ensure that each person receives a “Trojan horse” mRNA vaccine. “They have to wait until everyone is stuck, causing everyone’s immune system to be genetically modified so that they can be sure that nowhere in the world is there a zero left that can be used to create a drug,” it reads.

However, there is no evidence of such a plan, as it requires mandatory mRNA vaccinations. The UK government has repeatedly stated that they will not make COVID-19 vaccines compulsory – mRNA or otherwise (here, here). Of the three vaccines approved in the UK on 20 January, only two use mRNAs: those from Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna. The third, developed by Oxford / AstraZeneca, is an adenovirus-infected vaccine (here).

VERDICT

Untrue. Experts believe that there is no evidence to suggest that mRNA vaccines will cause a cytokine storm when an immunized individual is confronted with a live variant of COVID-19. The mRNA vaccines developed against COVID-19 are a new type of vaccine, and in the UK there is no plan to make vaccination compulsory.
