Fact check No evidence that Biden used CGI or green screens while answering reporters’ questions on March 16

Social media users share posts online with clips of President Joe Biden talking to reporters, claiming that the errors in the videos are proof that he is using CGI or a green screen. These claims are unfounded.

Examples can be seen here, here and here. One report’s description reads: “This is NOT Praying! CGI error, green screen failed. Keep an eye on his right hand and the microphone. ”

The video featured in this claim was posted on Twitter by The Hill on March 16, 2021 here . Comments on the tweet include: “Did ….. move his hand through the microphone at the bottom of the screen? Lol. Anyone else see this? “,” You are not even trying seriously at this stage. How long is he dead ”and“ I own a green screen and use it daily. This is a green screen effect. This is a 100% doctored video ”.

The video shows Biden answering questions from reporters as he leaves for a trip to Chester, Pennsylvania on March 16, 2021.

The reports contain low-quality videos, some of which are delayed, and snippets of the moment Biden’s hand is shown in front of the two microphones closest to him. The low quality makes it appear as if there is an error.

A full video of the exchange by C-SPAN can be seen here.

A video from another angle here by the Washington Post does not show a similar error.

BBC journalist Shayan Sardarizadeh denied the allegations in a tweet here , which shows photos taken from different angles here .

Steve Herman, White House Chief of Staff for Voice of America, responded to the tweet here by saying: “I was the one holding the lighter-fuzzy microphone and therefore literally in front of @POTUS on the South Lawn. It’s all real. Who actually believes this ‘fake moon landing’ nonsense and more importantly, who is spreading it? ‘

Reuters photographer Tom Brenner, who was here and there and took the photos, confirmed that Biden walked up and answered questions from reporters in person.

Reuters had earlier made similar allegations about the legitimacy of Biden’s presidency stemming from the QAnon conspiracy theory here.

VERDICT
