Fact check: Kamala Harris did not say military action would be taken against Trump supporters

Social media users shared a quote falsely attributed to U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she did not care about the constitution and would use federal law enforcement and the military against Trump supporters. The vice president’s press secretary confirmed to Reuters that the quote was fabricated and Reuters found no evidence that she made these remarks.

‘Direct quote. January 21, 2021. ‘These Trumpers, think we care about the constitution. We now have the power, it’s time to end it. They really do not get (sic). We will block them in the courts, we will use federal law enforcement and the military. After Joe inflicts the fatal shot, I take the government (sic). They will beg me for bread ”. – Kamaltoe Hairs deputy dictator, ”read the reports showing a photo of Harris under the words (here, here, here).

Vice President Sabrina Singh, deputy press secretary, told Reuters in an email that the vice president never said that.

The report claims that Harris made this remark on January 21, 2021. However, Reuters could not find the alleged comments on her social media channels that day (twitter.com/VP , twitter.com/KamalaHarris , here, www.instagram.com/vp/?hl=en) and also not in ProPublica’s “Politwoops” archive, which follows deleted tweets from public officials here. Reuters could not find any evidence that these remarks were made in any media reports on January 21, 2021, nor on the White House website (here), which contained statements, releases, speeches and remarks by Harris and the Biden government (here ) archive. , here).

Harris spoke at the winter session of the Democratic National Convention on January 21 (as seen during the 1 hour 8 minutes and 45 seconds in this C-SPAN video), but did not make these comments in her speech.
