Origin of the message
Since several Facebook users claim Merkel made the tweet, we searched her official Twitter account and found nothing. Instead, we came across a Twitter account in her name with the handle ‘@Koningin_Europa”, Which posted the viral message on January 7, 2021. This tweet collected 65,000 retweets to the submission of this story.

The Twitter bio of this handle mentions that it is a parody account. But the unverified Twitter account has a large following base. With more than 2.3 lakh followers and score, the account has been in operation since 2011, and according to “TweetBeaver“, Has posted more than 3,000 tweets so far.
