Facebook to tag all Coronavirus vaccine posts with ‘official information’

The social media giant Facebook has announced that it will soon discuss all posts discussing coronavirus vaccinations, with links to official information about COVID-19 from organizations such as the World Health Organization.

TechCrunch reports that Facebook has announced plans to label all reports of coronavirus vaccination with links to official information about the virus. In a blog post, the company said:

We have already linked more than 2 billion people to authoritative COVID-19 information, and today, as access to COVID-19 vaccines expands, we go further and strive to bring 50 million people one step closer to vaccination.

To do this, we help people to learn more about COVID-19 vaccines and to find out when and where they can get one through our programs. Some of the ways we do this:

  • A tool to connect people with information on where and when to get a COVID-19 vaccine
  • Extending our COVID-19 Information Center to Instagram
  • Expanding official WhatsApp chatbots on COVID-19 to get people registered for vaccinations with health authorities and governments
  • Adding labels to postings on COVID-19 vaccines to show additional information from the World Health Organization
  • Introduce real-time total trends in COVID-19 vaccinations, the intention to be vaccinated and reasons for hesitation available to public officials to inform the fair vaccination of vaccines

By working closely with national and global health authorities and using our scale to reach people quickly, we are doing our part to help people get credible information, vaccinate and get back together safely.

Facebook will apparently also introduce ‘temporary’ measures to limit the dissemination of incorrect information regarding the vaccine, declaring that it is disseminating the content of users who it believes are in breach of COVID-19’s policy and vaccine information. , reduced.

Facebook will also reduce the distribution of any COVID-19 or vaccine content that is considered by fact-checking partners to be ‘Missing Context’.

Facebook also plans to “further elevate information from authoritative sources when people search for information about COVID-19 or vaccinations.”
