Facebook issue incorrectly logged out iPhone users

If you woke up this morning and inexplicably logged out of the Facebook app on your iPhone, you are not alone. Facebook says a “configuration change” affected people’s access to the Facebook app on their iPhone on Friday night, but it appears the issue has been resolved for most users since then.

IPhone Facebook users logged out

Interestingly, the issue mainly affected iPhone users only. On Friday night, Facebook asked iOS users Twitter to ask why they were logged out of the application for no reason. Some users with two-factor authentication enabled also had trouble accessing their account, and some even had to upload photos of a valid ID to sign in. Affected users say that two-factor authentication SMS codes were very slow, or did not send at all.

The issue was so widespread that it turned into a popular topic on Twitter as users speculated as to why Facebook signed off all the iPhone users at the same time.

A Facebook spokesman made the following statement to Engadget:

‘We are aware that some people are currently struggling to access Facebook. We believe this was due to a configuration change and we are working to get things back to normal as soon as possible. ”

Facebook did not provide any additional details on what exactly happened. In a message on social media, the company said that the “configuration change” was resolved on Saturday morning around 06:00 ET. The social network never went offline. The only problem was that iPhone users were logged out of their account, and that some could not easily access.
