The CEOs of several major technology companies will testify before Congress again next month, this time to discuss misinformation on their platforms.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, and Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter, appear before members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee on March 25.

In a statement announcing the new trial, leaders of the House E&C Committee pointed out false allegations about the Covid-19 vaccine and alleged election fraud that had increased on social media platforms.

“For far too long, large-scale technology has failed to recognize the role they played in blatantly falsifying information among its online audiences. Industry self-regulation has failed,” said committee chairman Frank Pallone, DN.J. ., Communications and Mike Doyle, chairman of the technology subcommittee, D-Pa., And chairman of the subcommittee on consumer protection and trade, Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., Said in a statement. “We need to start changing the incentives that drive social media businesses to allow and even promote misinformation and misinformation.”

Of the three, Zuckerberg has made the most appearances before Congress in the past year alone. The trial in March will be his fourth time testifying before Congress since July. For Pichai and Dorsey, this will be their third in that period.

Last year, Zuckerberg and Pichai both appeared before lawmakers for hearings examining their competitive behavior and questioning the liability shield that protects their industry. Dorsey also appears before the latter trial as well as with Zuckerberg before another committee on censorship allegations on their platforms, which they deny.
