In a recent discussion of the popular Clubhouse app, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg focused on the progress of his business in the world of virtual reality and said: ‘we need to teleport, not transport’, and that VR can allow workers to virtually meet rather than go to offices.
The Daily mail reports that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently appeared in the Clubhouse app for invitations, where he discussed the progress of the social media giant in the world of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. Facebook is the owner of the popular Oculus VR business that was a pioneer in the mainstream VR device world.
Facebook is developing its VR and AR technology under its Reality Labs division. Zuckerberg said during the clubhouse meeting that ‘we need to teleport, not transport’, and believe that VR is the way forward to make people experience new places and things without leaving their homes.
‘One of the things that [VR] to unlock is the ability to live anywhere else and be somewhere else and really feel like you’re there, ‘Zuckerberg said. He added that VR could offer a new level of interaction in the workplace as more people work at home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Zuckerberg said: “It’s going to unlock a lot of economic opportunities because people will be able to live where they want and increasingly be able to work where they want and kind of teleport to their place.” He added: “I’m also pretty optimistic about the impact on climate by reducing the amount of commuting people have to do.”
Zuckerberg talked about electric vehicles: ‘I think the progress in reducing emissions in electric cars is big and exciting, but I tell my team that it’s easier to move pieces of atom around, so we have to teleport and not drive . ‘
