The McLaren F1 is not only one of the most important supercars of all time, but also one of the most exclusive cars. As a result, serious collectors have to act quickly at the rare opportunity that one is going to get.
Now one of those moments is at hand, as a red 1995 F1 has just been offered for sale by second-hand supercar dealer Issimi. Even better: this F1, one of only seven sold in the US, is in excellent condition.
Launched in 1992, the Gordon Murray-designed speed machine has changed the course of supercar history with its aerodynamic design and state-of-the-art technology, and is even considered by some enthusiasts to be the first hypercar. It’s easy to see why. Underneath its beautiful carbon-fiber body is a 6.1-liter BMW S70 / 2 V12 mated to a six-speed manual transmission that can knock out 627 horses with a twist and red line of 7,500 rpm. Nearly three decades later, it is still considered one of the best drivers of all time.
This particular example is from the 1995 model year – the car was only in production from 1992 to 1998 – and, according to Issimi, has been ‘excellently maintained’ since it rolled off the track. It is finished in red and has an interior in black with red accents that has enough space for you and two passengers. It went through two owners during its lifetime, although the dealer did not disclose the exact number of miles on the odometer.
But it is this F1 rarity that makes this sale so remarkable. 106 examples were built during the seven-year production period, and only 64 were legal on the street. Of these, only seven were sold to owners in the US. The new owner will be
Issimi does not mention a price for the vehicle, but asks interested parties to contact one of its advisers. However, if you miss this F1, do not be upset. We do not know of any other examples of the supercar that would hit the market soon, but Murray’s current creation, the T.50, is expected to be in production next year. That high-tech gearbox is expected to cost about $ 3 million.
