So this is what Shang-Chi looks like. We started wondering about Marvel’s often delayed martial arts adventure Shang-Chi and the legend of the ten rings, but star Simu Liu just tweeted a first glance at the poster on Monday, Oh, and here’s the very first trailer …

The Legend of the Ten Rings also plays Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung as the Mandarin – not the fake one from Iron Man 3, but the real thing, complete with titular jewelry. He calls Shang-Chi back from a life of party-and-park cars to face fate, which apparently involves all sorts of kung fu actions and even a bit of wuxia epicity.

After filming was halted by the pandemic last year, Shang-Chi’s premiere was moved from February 2021 to this summer. The current planned release date is September 3, after June Loki TV show and Julie’s Black widow. Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe then continue with Eternal in November and Spider-Man: No Way Home in December.

Shang-Chi was created in 1973 by author Steve Englehart and artist Jim Starlin during American kung fu rage in the 1970s. Originally the son of vintage villain (and racist stereotype) Fu Manchu, he has no superpowers but keeps his own in unarmed battles thanks to his unparalleled mastery of chi.
