Ex-NFL DB says Dwayne Haskins’ criticism is’ exaggerated ‘

The first few years of Dwayne Haskins’ NFL career did not go as planned. The first-round pick in 2019 did not even make it two full years with the Washington Football Team before he was released, but one former NFL defensive rugby player thinks he will get a second chance with another team.

On Monday, Washington renounced Haskins, who just one day later released the release of a free agent. Since being drafted, Haskins has struggled on the field and has also had a share of off-field issues. Now that he’s free to sign with a new team, former NFL defense and current ESPN analyst Domonique Foxworth believes some of the criticism about Haskins is exaggerated. Foxworth gets it to a player who is simply immature.

“He deserves a lot of the criticism he has, but I think some if it’s a little left over to the point where we’re asking, is he going to get another chance?” Foxworth said. ‘I think it’s not even fair to consider yet. Maybe he’s not as good as we thought. Maybe the one year at university was a blessing or a product of the system. Maybe he’s bad. But a first round, those guys always get a second chance, unless there are mitigating circumstances with the law or addiction or something like that. He does not have any of the problems. He’s just immature. ‘

It seems Foxworth seemed to get Haskins a chance again relatively soon. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, there are a number of teams that have already looked to add the former Ohio State Buckeye. One of the teams is in the NFC South.

‘While free agent QB Dwayne Haskins “probably not going to sign before the season, he gets interest from several teams, the source said,” Rapoport wrote on Twitter. “One of them is the Carolina Panthers, but there are others who are interested in Haskins.”

Carolina did not make SportsLine’s first top group of teams that Haskins could sign, because the experts expressed the chance about where Haskins will play in 2021. The Pittsburgh Steelers started as the favorite to record Haskins as Ben Roethlisberger’s primary backup at +300, followed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (+500).

The New England Patriots, who signed Cam Newton for a one-year deal in July, he could be looking for a new signal caller if the franchise does not go long-term with the former Panthers star. They sit at +600 per SportsLine. The Los Angeles Rams (+700), Indianapolis Colts (+900), New Orleans Saints (+1200), Denver Broncos (+1500) and Atlanta Falcons (+2000) round out the list of candidates.
