Ex-Michigan Wolverines QB Dylan McCaffrey Moves to Northern Colorado

Former Michigan quarterback Dylan McCaffrey is moving to Northern Colorado, where he will have the chance to play for his father, Ed McCaffrey.

Dylan was an ESPN 300 recruiter in the 2017 class, but could never win the starting position in Michigan. He only tried 15 passes in 2018 and suffered a broken collarbone that shortened his season. He was a backup for Shea Patterson in 2019.

McCaffrey could not start his career in Michigan and chose the 2020 season before it began.

Elder McCaffrey became the Bears’ head coach in December 2019, but he has yet to coach a game for Northern Colorado because the Big Sky has moved the season to spring due to COVID-19.

Northern Colorado recently announced that it will not participate in the Big Sky’s spring season and championship season, but will follow a modified schedule for non-conference in late spring.

Ed will add his son to the list, with two more years in consideration; and because Dylan is a graduate transferor, he can play immediately.

McCaffrey are brothers with former Nebraska quarterback Luke McCaffrey and Carolina Panthers star Christian McCaffrey.

Michigan still has eighth-man Cade McNamara and Joe Milton in the rankings, and the staff also added JPN McCarthy, the ESPN 300 full-back, in this 2021 class. McCarthy enrolled at Michigan early and was the no. 25 on the rankings, as well as the no. 2 double threat in class.
