Ex-LSU Tigers TE Arik Gilbert Moves to Florida Gators to Stay in SEC

The former tighthead prop of the LSU, Arik Gilbert, announced on social media on Sunday that he will take over for Florida.

Gilbert was the No. 6 position in the 2020 class from Marietta, Georgia, and initially entered the transfer portal on January 5th.

He was fourth in the LSU reception last season with 368 yards and two touchdowns on 35 receptions in eight games. Gilbert abruptly decided on the season on December 9, and coach Ed Orgeron said at the time that he expected Gilbert to return in 2021.

Gilbert will offer the Gators another excellent pass option. Kyle Pitts, who participates in the NFL draft, was second in the receiving yard of this team with 770 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Florida expanded its roster for 2021 through the transfer portal with Gilbert, as well as Demarkcus Bowman, who transferred from Clemson and was the No. 23 rank in the 2020 class.

The staff also defended AQurn’s DaQuan Newkirk and Penn State’s Antonio Shelton in the Florida Series.
