MADISON, Wis (AP) – Government Tony Evers is exploding federal officials for promising to release the rest of their COVID-19 vaccine stockpile when it appears to have been depleted.
Evers said Friday that Vice President Mike Pence and U.S. Health Secretary Alex Azar had promised governors earlier this week that the Trump administration would release the vaccine it holds in reserve to speed up vaccinations. But the news broke on Friday that the reserve was already depleted when the promises were made.
Evers said it was a “slap in the face” to Wisconsin residents. Evers is taking critical criticism from Republicans over the slow pace of Wisconsin vaccination.
