Eva Mendes took a breather from social media after her daughter said she was ‘too much on the phone’

She has been virtually silent on Instagram for the past month.

And Eva Mendes revealed on Saturday that her absence came on social media after one of her young daughters was disappointed at how much attention she paid to her phone.

The 46-year-old actress was inspired to make the recording after she shared a post that encouraged parents to have their children called.

Eva posted a tweet from the @latinxparenting account about how to deal with ‘disrespect’ of children.

Let your children call you out. This is not contempt. It’s healthy, ‘it begins.

‘Children can match their values so strongly that they will earn nothing less than the respect they deserve. They take no BS. Not even from you, ‘the report continues.

“Congratulations, you are raising an empowered child.”

In her caption, Eva explained: ‘I haven’t been posting lately because my little one told me I was on the phone too much.

“I could see her taking it personally. And she is a child, of course she will take it personally. They take things personally, unless we go out of our way to make it clear to them that it is not personal, ‘she explained.

Eva’s message was her first since Dec. 29, when she wished a happy birthday to makeup artist Shirley Raines, who administers to unsuspecting people living in Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles.

Her last in a series of Instagram posts came on December 17 when she cut out an iconic album cover of opera singer Maria Callas to take a photo of herself.

‘My daughter wanted to cut Maria Callas’ face off the record cover. I’m quietly dead a little inside, but I quickly said yes. Mother’s pandemic guilt is full, ‘she admitted in her caption.

In October, Eva joked with the Sydney Morning Herald that it sometimes feels like we are in quarantine with a bed and breakfast with very drunk and aggressive guests. ‘

‘We really feel like we’re working in a hotel, and the guests are angry and bossy and demand that food be brought to them. And by the time they go to bed, we just need to clean up and talk about how they treated us that day! ‘

The Hitch star has stayed out of the spotlight for the past few years as she focused on raising her daughters Esmeralda (six) and Amada (four) who she shares with her husband Ryan Gosling (40).

The couple met in 2011 on the set of their film The Place Beyond The Pines, starring Ryan and Bradley Cooper and being released the following year.

The actors and lovers launched an artistic collaboration when she appeared in Ryan’s directorial debut Lost River as the cabaret artist Cat, delivering a bloody act for her clients.

The experimental and critically divisive film was a commercial flop, and it was also Eva’s last film to date when she walked out of Hollywood to raise her children.

The actress has repeatedly spoken in recent years about the possibility of returning to the screen.

She told HuffPost Australia in October that Disney movies might be the only thing she could act on because she did not want to get involved in violence or anything her children would be ‘ashamed of’.
