The monopoly of telecommunications in Cuba has begun to promote a new service to make use of the Internet in the Isla. The offer consists of renting a Virtual Private Server (VPS), a basic element for the natural people -about all those who work by owning a web page that allows them to promote their products or services.
Following the announcement of the state-of-the-art company “the virtualization solution implemented for the service, allows clients to self-provision and consume virtual servers on demand using a catalog available on the instantaneous form”.

In addition to the web pages also, all residents of Cuba and the mayor of 18 years, can use the service to allocate software applications. Among the VPS alliances that Brinda Etecsa is the only configuration that needs to be realized are the customer can choose a “list of predefined services applicable to different operating systems” and also have specific pre-installed and configured applications.
In order to contract the service, the interested party must attend the Etecsa commercial office more closely and in a place “no mayor within 24 hours” the offer will be answered responsibly. Communication team is available by e-mail (required to contract the service) “the customer must access the management interface to configure the virtual server to its needs”.
The offer includes a public IP directory, mediated by the client administering its virtual server from each form to the Internet connection within Cuba, including the mobile data and the 300 megas quota that is organized for the international international navigation.
Characteristics of the VPS commercialized by ETECSA
- The virtual private server will be configured according to the resources of (CPU, RAM in Almacenamiento) that can be adjusted to their needs.
- The maximum number of virtual servers to be provided will be 9, up to 3 servers per Data Center (in 3 regions available: La Habana / Mayabeque / Las Tunas).
- It has a predefined catalog of operating systems and specific preinstalled and configured applications, lists for its instant form display.
- 100 Mbps bandwidth.
- 250 GB Monthly Transfer
- Panel of Control with operations Básicas establecidas.
The monthly cost will be 250 Cuban pesos, but it will also offer additional services such as a monthly transfer of another 250 GB.
Etecsa does not provide the VPS service for those who claim to use the web “which works as a medium in a press organ; provide or facilitate telephone call services, SMS service, public services of: e-mail, chat, proxies and other similar ”.
