BUFFALO, NY – As CEO of Erie County, Mark Poloncarz will be angry and disappointed if any company in his community consciously endangers its employees from COVID-19.

“It’s pretty low and could possibly break laws,” Poloncarz told The Athletic on Friday.

Since the New Jersey Devils traveled to Buffalo this past weekend to face the Sabers, 22 players have entered the COVID-19 protocol. Sabal coach Ralph Krueger has a confirmed case.

“The NHL needed to act more in my eyes to ensure the safety of players in both teams as well as those around them,” Poloncarz said. “They seemed more interested in playing a game.”
