In what is the single strangest part of the socially-removed accommodation we have seen in this whole year-and-count-oh-god-still-counting crisis, TVLine note that Real world housemate Eric Nies did not actually live in the program’s house during the recent filming of the upcoming reunion season, The Real World: Coming Home New York. Instead of serving as a housemate, Nies was rather a screen mate, broadcast via a video monitor to the attic where the other members of the series play the role – at least in part from the famous first season. to let you all down on Paramount Plus, please– Just lived. Since the whole point of The real worlddepending on who you are asking is to see how rude people can get towards each other during a long period of forced camera atoms, it seems contrary to the apparent purpose of the program, but Nies says it was not his call, I have noted that the set-up ‘was not my choice, but that I accepted the outcome.’

Nies promised that there would be explanations, but the immediate assumption is probably something to do with the requirements for the quarantine of COVID, as it would be pretty bad for MTV to move 7 people into a house and see what happens if they are no longer polite, become really contagious. The other six participants in the program – Becky Blasband, Andre Comeau, Heather B. Gardner, Julie Gentry, Norman Korpi and Kevin Powell – all formally reunited, although they lived together in the SoHo cage where the pioneering reality 29 years ago first once filmed.

The Real World: Coming Home New York will be launched from tomorrow 4 March with the launch of Paramount Plus.
