Eric Bieniemy: Eagles allegedly request interview with Chiefs’ offensive coordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles have requested a head coach interview with offensive coordinator Kansas City Chiefs Eric Bieniemy, according to a report by NFL Insider Mike Garafolo. It is unclear when Bieniemy will be available for maintenance, as the Chiefs are currently still alive in the 2021 playoff game.

It would definitely be something if the Eagles fired former Chiefs attacking coordinator Doug Pederson just to replace him with his eventual successor in Philly.

However, this sounds like it probably won’t happen. As we wrote earlier on Saturday:

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Bieniemy is ready to close out of the service cycle for the second consecutive year. He’s obviously a popular name among fans, but he’s not been linked with the Eagles so far. [until now]. There are some reports about Bieniemy that conducted poor interviews. There is also his ‘uncomfortable past’ to consider. Fowler says the Eagles are watching other candidates, indicating that their attention is being focused elsewhere.

However, it is not difficult to understand why EB has so much buzz. Here’s how the Chiefs rank in offensive points since being promoted to OC:

2018 – 1st
2019 – 5th
2020 – 6th

Of course, it’s hard to analyze exactly how much credit EB alone earns if he’s not a full – time player and works with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. But one would think EB deserves some credit for KC’s success.
