WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Perfect spring weather today, no matter how big changes we had on the way Monday to Tuesday.
Sunshine in light wind speeds today with temperatures rising around the 60s. Dry weather overnight and most of the day on Monday. A strong cold front moving through Kansas enters the northern part of Kansas during the morning hours and enters southern Oklahoma at sunset. Before the cold front, the temperature will reach the 60s to near 70. Behind the front, expect a drop of 10-20 degrees as it passes with temperatures in the 40s and 50s, strong north winds and increasing clouds. The cold front will move through Sedgwick County between 4 and 6 p.m.
Monday night as the temperature drops in the 1930s, a higher-level disturbance will move quickly through the state, increasing our chances of winter weather. A winter mix that turns to snow is possible until midnight, with all snow expected after midnight to Tuesday morning. As the system moves quickly and soil / soil temperatures are quite warm, accumulations will be light and especially on grass areas. Snow accumulations of 1-3 ″ are possible along and north of I-70 with tracks up to 1 ″ amounts north of Highway 400. The winter weather will be over by Tuesday morning and sunshine will return by noon and the snow will melt quickly .
Cold temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday with a peak in the 40s and 50s. Another chance of showers / thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday with a peak in the 60’s. Next weekend dry and warmer with highs in the 60s and 70s.
