Elon Musk’s SpaceX Starship explodes at end of test launch

Elon Musk’s SpaceX recently launched and landed a third Starship test vehicle, the SN10, but shortly after returning to the ground, the ship exploded into a fireball. Musk claims that by 2023, the spacecraft will be safe for human transport.

Interesting engineering reports that this week SpaceX successfully launched a third Starship test vehicle and landed in the company Boca Chica, Texas. The vehicle, named SN10, took off at around 18:14 EST yesterday and landed again at 18:21 EST.

But when the Starship landed, bystanders saw it leaning to one side and small fires visible inside, which left some commentators wondering if it would fall over. Ten minutes later, the Starship exploded in flames.

It is currently believed that the cause of the explosion was a methane leak. Around 10:39:05 in the video below you can see the Starship explode in a ball of fire.

Despite SpaceX’s long history of exploding rockets, some still believe that they will be able to transport humans around the moon within a few years. Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa recently published an update on the “dearMoon” mission; the planned first voyage of the Starship to the moon with Maezawa as the first passenger to buy a ticket.

On Tuesday, he announced the opening of a competition for eight ‘everyday people’ to go with him on the Starship for a journey around the moon that man for the first time since the Apollo program a low orbit of the would leave earth.

In a video announcing the competition, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said: ‘I am very confident that we would be spinning with Starship many times before 2023, and that by 2023 it would be safe enough for human transport. . It looks very promising. ”
