According to various media reports, Russia did not rule out the idea that President Vladimir Putin would talk to Tesla billionaire Elon Musk on the social media app Clubhouse.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Monday that the proposal, according to the Tass news agency, was “interesting” but that more details were needed. The news was also reported by Reuters and the Russian media RBC.

“First, we want to find out, you know, that President Putin does not directly use social networks; he does not manage them personally,” Peskov said in a statement.

“In general, it is a very interesting proposal, but one must first understand what is meant, what is proposed.”

The Kremlin did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Musk invited Putin via Twitter on Saturday to join him for a chat about Clubhouse, an app that is audio-only and is growing rapidly after becoming popular in Silicon Valley.

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX then said in Russian: “It will be a great honor to speak with you.”

According to App Annie, app app tracker, clubhouse has been downloaded about five million times. Like other US social media platforms, it was blocked in China last week.

The iPhone app, which is invited only for people, allows people to speak ‘on stage’ while an audience listens. Audience members can be invited ‘on stage’ to ask questions to speakers.

Musk interviewed Robinhood co-founder Vlad Tenev at Clubhouse on January 30, and last Wednesday the entrepreneur wrote on Twitter that he had agreed to do ‘Clubhouse’ with Kanye West.

Last month, Clubhouse was valued at about $ 1 billion by investors. Twitter has launched its own version, known as Spaces, while Facebook is believed to be working on a similar product.
