Mark Harris has compiled an amazing report for TechCrunch on the legal issues faced by buyers of the Boring Company’s flamethrowers. Part of what makes it worth reading is that it digs up stories you have not yet heard: a police attack in London, an American doing time in an Italian prison, and how they turned up in drugs along with real guns and bags of cocaine.
While the Not a Flamethrower name may be accurate, the story shows that when the police worldwide with a gun-shaped device, especially one that fires flames, you see, they may not be able to laugh with you about Elon’s ideas. They can only arrest you in the end.
The biggest ‘what the hell’ moment of the story for me was when a lawyer about the Not a Flamethrower said, ‘It’s a toy they sell to children.’ If you were one of the people who got this device, do not give it to a child.
Although the product is boring, the article is definitely not, and you should definitely go read it. I promise you will not be burned.
