Elon Musk backs Bitcoin, talks about crypto-future

Just a few days after Elon Musk added #bitcoin to his Twitter bioa move that raised the price of the cryptocurrency by about 20% on Friday, the Tesla boss confirmed that he is a proponent of bitcoin.

“I think at this point bitcoin is a good thing, and I’m a proponent of bitcoin,” Musk said when asked on Sunday about his thoughts on cryptocurrencies during a live interview in the popular audio app Club House. “A lot of friends of mine have been trying to convince me for a long time to get involved with bitcoin.”

Musk added. “I think bitcoin is about to gain broad acceptance through conventional finance.”

Musk explained that one friend offered him a slice of “bitcoin cake” in 2013.

“I mean, I clearly had to buy at least some bitcoin eight years ago,” Musk said, noting that he was late for the party on bitcoin.

The value of the crypto-currency traded above the $ 33,000 level on Monday night after reaching a high of $ 42,000 at the beginning of 2021.

According to Musk, major institutions, including Mass Mutual and PayPal, recently announced the adoption of the digital currency.

When asked about other forms of cryptocurrency, Musk admits he has no ‘strong opinion’. However, the billionaire has previously tweeted about Dogecoin, including a 2019 tweet in which he referred to it as his ‘fav cryptocurrency’.

‘Sometimes I make jokes about dogecoin, but it’s really just meant as jokes. “Dogecoin was made as a joke to mock the cryptocurrencies,” Musk said. ‘But fate likes irony. The most entertaining outcome and the most ironic outcome is that dogecoin will become the Earth’s currency in the future. ”
