Ellen DeGeneres gives a detail on the fight against the coronavirus for the first time in 2021

Ellen DeGeneres returns to her day discussion for the first time in 2021 on Wednesday after battling the coronavirus.

DeGeneres, 62, revealed on Dec. 10 that she tested positive for COVID-19. Despite feeling good at the time, she confirmed that she would not return to the small screen until after the holidays.

Upon her return to the stage, DeGeneres wishes viewers a “happy new year” and discusses what her experience with COVID-19 was like.

“Obviously there are a lot of negative things going on, but instead I want to talk about something positive: my COVID test. So I tested positive before the holidays. I’m doing well, everything is fine. I’m clear. “I want to thank everyone who came out with kind words of support. I wish I could have pushed each of you. It would probably have been dangerous and illegal,” laughs DeGeneres.

The host further explained that she learned of her positive test result when she was at her studio. She said Wednesday’s audience is the same group that attended in mid-December, but due to her diagnosis, the episode was postponed.

“So well, that’s what happened to you. I was putting up the program for which you would be here. I was in hair and makeup and powdered my face and applied my extensions. Then my assistant Craig came in. and says, ‘You tested positive for COVID.’ And then everyone around me ran away. It’s funny that people just get really scared. Some have not come back since. Anyway, I immediately left the studio and our COVID security team notified everyone I was in. contact was, “she explains.

DeGeneres jokes that her executive producer “literally ran full speed off the track” after being told of her positive test result.

DeGeneres said she was quarantined at home away from her wife, Portia de Rossi, who was sleeping in another bed.

“Portia put me to sleep in another room on a different bed because she wanted the race car bed for herself,” says DeGeneres.

The host said she slept “16 hours a day” during the first three days of her COVID-19 battle. On the fourth day, she began to experience intense back pain.

“I woke up with back spasms. I thought I was pulling a muscle or sleeping strangely because I was in another bed. It just kept going. The doctor put me on painkillers and muscle relaxants – a jackpot! Finally paid it “she says.

DeGeneres notes that her back just “got worse” on the painkillers.

“It felt like I had cracked a rib,” she admits.

She said her doctor eventually put her on a steroid suit as well, in addition to muscle relaxants and pain pills.

“Here’s the thing about steroids: it makes you really fast and very edgy, so the best thing to do, I decided to stay on the muscle relaxants and pain pills with the steroid pack to balance it. I do not know if it’s the “I’m not a doctor, but that’s what I did,” she continued.

DeGeneres adds that she has since learned from others who have experienced back pain as a symptom of COVID-19.

“I’m not saying if you have back pain you have COVID, but it’s a symptom. It’s the only symptom I had. I did not have a headache, I did not have a fever, I did not have my sense do not lose Although I did wear crocs for a day, you have to be the judge, ‘she adds.

DeGeneres concludes that she is ‘very happy’ to be better, but is still curious about where she contracted the novel coronavirus.
