Eligible for the COVID Vaccine in Nevada, Updated

The southern Nevada Health District has added groups of people eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Here’s the latest, according to the state’s COVID-19 Vaccine Playbook.

Ages:

Those 65 and older

Occupation levels:

Healthcare workers

Include staff who work:

– Hospitals.

– Long-term care workers and residents.

– Laboratories.

– Diagnostic imaging.

– Pharmacy.

– Medical / dental services.

– First responders (EMT / paramedics).

Public safety and security

– Staff of the Department of Corrections in Nevada.

– Law enforcement, public safety and national security.

– State and local emergency operations managers / staff.

Front Line Community Support

– Education (Pre-K & K-12) and child care – public, private and charter school institutions.

– Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) frontline educators, staff and students.

– Community support frontline staff (ie frontline workers supporting food, shelter, court / legal services, social services, public utilities and other necessities of life for needy groups and individuals).

– Continuity of government (state and local).

– Important public transport: taxi, Uber and Lyft drivers at state and local level.

– Remaining essential public health staff: health and environmental health workers specializing in sanitation and infection control, health care and emergency preparedness planning, public health / community health workers, including call center workers.

– Funeral services.

Supply chain and logistics up front (March 2 added)

– Agriculture, farmers, farm and farm workers, agribusiness support, auctions and sales, processing and storage of animal food, manufacture of veterinary and biological agents, livestock services and markets, slaughterhouses.

End-to-end supply chain for essential goods (includes manufacturing, transportation, distribution and sale of essential items) These include warehouses, processing, packaging and distribution (USPS, FedEx, UPS), messengers, local and long-distance truck drivers, grocery stores, grocery stores, pharmacists, suppliers and support staff critical to business continuity, electrical engineers, security staff, housekeepers, e-commerce workers

Utility and communication infrastructure, including news providers, water and wastewater workers, dam workers, internet and mobile services, service providers.

Nevada’s Department of Transportation and Local Emergency Personnel, including CDL drivers, street cleaning crews, snow plow drivers, traffic incident management and emergency crew personnel.

– Major airport operations, workers supporting air transportation for cargo and passengers, including service, distribution, maintenance and sanitation. Includes air traffic controllers, flight receivers, airport staff, flight staff and flight instructors.

– Other essential transportation includes repairing vehicle repairs and manufacturing and distributing equipment; vehicle sales, rental and leasing and the supply chains that enable these operations to facilitate continuity of travel-related operations for essential workers. Still to be added to the fitness list:

– Those between 16 and 64 years with underlying conditions and disabilities and homeless.

Ages 16 to 64 are considered healthy.

– Occupational subgroup: Food service, hospitality, hygiene, construction and mining.
