On the same day, the news broke that WWE had allegedly signed Taya Valkyrie, another report states that the company had signed Eli Drake.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider states that WWE has signed the former IMPACT world champion. “WWE has signed former Impact Wrestling World Champion Eli Drake (real name Shaun Ricker (38)) to a deal for the WWE NXT brand,” PWInsider.com confirmed, “Johnson wrote.
Drake was a prominent player for the National Wrestling Alliance in 2019, but Johnson notes that Drake was ‘quietly released’ last year.
Drake had an inconspicuous run on NXT in 2013-2014. Since then, he has been playing in IMPACT Wrestling, where he won the promotion’s world title. He also co-hosted the NWA World Team Championship with James Storm.
Like Valkyrie, Drake will likely be unveiled as part of the WWE Performance Center class.
