A fan of Elder Scrolls reveals the purpose behind the cumbersome Dwemer waste found in locations in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is known for its numerous hidden and unmarked places to explore, many of which contain the remains of the Dwemer: an ancient civilization that left behind architecture and constructions. Dwemer waste, pieces of a mysterious and very heavy ore, is such a remnant, and a Redditor named Ghost Crib thinks they know how the waste was used.
Skyrim has been out since 2011 and continues to thrive from a healthy player base on multiple platforms. The game’s excellence as an open-world RPG and profound inspiration keep players searching for answers to the many mysteries of Tamriel. Dwemer waste has always been a limited use in Skyrim, but a useful infographic created by Phantom Scribble helps put the pieces together regarding its purpose.
In the image, three different Dwemer constructs are marked with arrows indicating the placement of the Dwemer Scrap items that can be found as you explore the world. Ten pieces are shown in total, ranging from the lighter Large Dwemer sheet metal to the heavy Solid Dwemer metal which adds 25 points to weighting.
Enthusiasts will no doubt recognize the Dwarven Centurion, a guardian of Dwemer ruins with high resistance that poses a significant threat to the lower level. Skyrim players unprepared for battle. To see how Dwemer waste pieces fit into constructions leaves confusion with the material, although there are still ambiguities. For players encountering Dwemer Scrap for the first time, ‘Bent Dwemer Scrap Metal’ can easily be confused with ‘Dwemer Scrap Metal’, but the latter is not useful for melting in dwarf metal bowls.
The Dwemer civilization is one of the most mysterious aspects of Skyrimhistory, as well as the knowledge that they could share a allegiance to the politically neutral Giants. It has long been thought that the Dwemer became extinct, although some Skyrim residents believe members of the race may still be alive. A man in Morthal named Falion, who traveled by plane, for example, claims to have met Dwemer in his lifetime.
This discovery is probably not the last to be made about the Dwemer, especially when The Elder Scrolls 6 finally appears. For now, fans of the Elder role series has an abundance of content to enjoy, and it will probably not be long before new discoveries are made in the extensive fantasy franchise.
The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is now available on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
