Elden Ring: leaky trailers, rumors and everything you need to know

FromSoftware

Here’s the pitch for Elden Ring: it requires the play of Dark souls and mix it with the storytelling and world building of Game of Thrones. The comingPlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC games are developed by FromSoftware, the studio behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne, with the help of George RR Martin himself.

We do not know much about the title. Elden Ring was announced in 2019
, but we have heard little of it since. However, the interest in the game has been excited, thanks to a newly leaked trailer and a bit of detail that FromSoftware has yet to confirm.

What do we know for sure?

Elden Ring was launched at E3 2019, with a trailer to be shown during Microsoft’s keynote address. It shows a cruel, harsh fantasy environment, as a narrator explains that chaos has arisen since ‘someone or something’ crushed the Elden Ring. But we got little information in the way, other than the assurance that the game would launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. No release window was given.

In an interview published that year on the official Xbox website about E3, FromSoftware president and Elden Ring director Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed more details. Game development began in 2017 after the release of Dark Souls 3’s Ringed City DLC and it will be a third-person RPG game that is heavier for role-playing elements than action.

“This title contains a wide variety of weapons, magic, and ways to engage enemies, enabling users to offer a gameplay style and strategy that suits them,” Miyazaki said at the time. “Even compared to the Dark Souls series, I believe this title will offer even more variety in the ways players can overcome challenges and adjust their tactics when facing enemies.”

Later in the interview, he notes that the biggest difference between Elden Ring and Dark Souls is that the upcoming title will be an open world.

What is George RR Martin’s involvement?

Miyazaki and the team from FromSoftware are responsible for writing Elden Ring’s narrative, but have outsourced the world, lore and mythos to Martin. Because Elden Ring is a much bigger game than Dark Souls, world building is more important than in previous FromSoftware titles. A larger game requires more characters, cultures, and venues, and Martin has been hired to make it more meaningful.

“[Martin’s] mythos appear to be full of interesting characters and drama, as well as an abundance of mystical and mysterious elements. It was a wonderful source of stimulus for me and the development staff, “Miyazaki said. Elden Ring’s world was built using this myth and stimulus as a basis. Even I find it hard to control my excitement from time to time. ‘

In a subsequent interview, Miyazaki added that people who worked on the Game of Thrones TV show also helped build Elden Ring’s world.

What was wrong?

After more than 18 months of almost radio silence, which was a particular disappointment at last year’s Game Awards, a trailer for Elden Ring leaked in early March. A 112-second heavy watermark shows more of Elden Ring’s world and the demonic creatures that live in it. More importantly, it showed a look at the battles in the game, on horseback.

The fans made Dark Souls fans stand out. The community put together clips of various leaks and even suspended footage to HD. The footage is reportedly from 2020. An uncontrolled insider in the industry with a record of reliable leaks said the trailer was for internal purposes. What’s more, they added that Elden Ring will have a player-to-player multiplayer as well as a weather system in play.

When will the game appear and will it PS5 and Xbox Series X | S hit?

The answer to both questions is that no one knows. It was speculated that Elden Ring would start in 2020 and thereafter in 2021. COVID-19 complications have been reported to have disrupted development, cause delays. In short, the release date for Elden Ring is ‘TBA’.

What PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | As for, it looks very likely that the game will appear on the new consoles, if only the PS4 / Xbox One / PC version works smoother and with a higher resolution. That said, it has also not been confirmed.
