EJ Liddell, Ohio State, shares threatening messages he received after the NCAA Tournament was eliminated

Ohio State forward EJ Liddell went after Twitter’s incredible loss to Oral Roberts on Twitter to share disturbing messages from disgruntled fans following the Buckeye’s early elimination from the NCAA Tournament.

Liddell (20) shared screenshots of the vulgar and threatening messages he received on Instagram immediately after the No. 2 seeded Buckeyes lost 75-72 in overtime for the No.15 Eagles.

“Honestly, what did I do to deserve it? I’m human,” the second shooter said.

One user sent several messages containing derogatory language and racial insults. In one message, he tells Liddell: ‘I hope someone shoots you in the face [sic] bruh you is af — ing bum. ”

In a separate message, he tells Liddell that he wants to “kill” him.

Another screenshot shows messages from one user harassing Liddell again earlier in the week and Friday.

“Piece s —,” the person wrote. “You got it right again.”

They continued, “You are such a disgrace. Never show your face in the state of Ohio … I hope you die, I really do.”

Liddell said the comments themselves did not bother him. He just wants to know “why.”

“I’ve never done anything to anyone in my life to approach like that,” he wrote in another tweet. “It’s not me who says anything negative about Ohio State fans. I love you all very much and I have felt nothing but appreciation since I first walked the campus.”

Despite the great upset, Liddell had 23 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Buckeyes.

“It’s obviously a very bitter end to a great season,” Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann said. “We will own and accept it, and we will move forward.”
