EasyDNS starts accepting Dogecoin as payment

It looks like Dogecoin is riding the wave. On Saturday, it saw another person in the form of easyDNS, who became the first registrar of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) to accept the cryptocurrency as a means of payment. The Canadian firm issued a statement saying, “We continue our tradition of being a pioneer in cryptocurrency, and now accept DOGE payments for all services.” The blog entry said that they are the first to accept the various cryptocurrencies currently flourishing in the market.

The message said: “We were the first ICANN registrar to accept Bitcoin, the first to accept Ethereum, the first to accept Litecoin and now … DOGE.” This is a big win for the crypto-currency that rose rapidly in the market this week.

The company also looked kindly to Tesla and Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, who was an avid supporter of the digital currency. The blog included a tweet from him saying, “Remember who was there first again (and it was not this man).”

Dogecoin has risen nearly 400 percent in the past week, thanks to a few cryptic and non-cryptic tweets by people like Musk.

With this, easyDNS joins the list of companies that have warmed up to Dogecoin in the recent past. One of the first to do so was billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban, who announced in March that his NBA franchise Dallas Mavericks would accept Dogecoin as payment for tickets and merchandise.

On April 14, Cuban gave his Twitter followers a update about how it’s going. ‘FYI, the Mavs sales in Dogecoin have increased by 550 percent in the past month. We have now sold over 122,000 Doge merchandise! We will never sell a single Doge, ”he said.

Dogecoin found further acceptance when cryptocurrency provider CoinFlip made the digital currency available at 1,800 ATMs in 46 states in the US.

The adult entertainment website, PornHub, has also added Dogecoin to the list of cryptocurrencies it accepts, along with, among others, Bitcoin, Ethereum.

So far, Dogecoin seems to be following in the footsteps of its successful predecessor, Bitcoin. This year, Bitcoin made the headlines when Musk decided to accept it as a means of payment at his company Tesla. Share the news, the technical billionaire wrote, “You can now buy a Tesla with Bitcoin.” He added: “Tesla uses only internal and open source software and operates Bitcoin nodes directly.”

Musk also said that the option to pay Bitcoin to people outside the US will be available later this year.
