In the deal, Roseman likely portrays Wentz’s value closer to that of Matthew Stafford, who returned several picks, including several picks in the first round, when in fact (and unfortunately) is closer to that of Jared Goff. Now the Eagles have to decide GM. Is he striving for a better offer that will never materialize and runs the risk of being pushed to the March 19 deadline, when a team can really exploit his desperation, OR he pulls the plug sooner and simply takes less package to go on and get a fresh start?

OUTLOOK: The Eagles could trade or release Ertz to raise about $ 4.7 million in space this offseason. Ertz apparently draws interest from other teams, suggesting that there is some sort of market for his services. The tricky thing about trading him, however, is that the Eagles cannot benefit from playing the ceiling before the new league year begins. And so the Eagles will not be able to trade Ertz if they cannot get under the cap without cutting him. It’s a shame that Ertz’s time in Philly is coming to an end, but it’s the right move for the Eagles to turn the 30-year-old around.
