Eagles News: Jason Peters and Lane Johnson praise Jalen Hurts

Let’s go to the Philadelphia Eagles links …

Jason Peters draws attention to Carson Wentz trade and more – NBCSP
Peters was impressed by what he saw at Hurts last season. What stood out the most? “His leadership and his weaker,” Peters said of his teammate, who is 17 years younger than him. ‘He comes to the mess, he demands your eyes and ears. He is definitely ahead of his time in terms of his leadership and his swing. He should have gotten it from Nick Saban and all the coaches there in Alabama. The man has a lot of confidence and I think he is going to be going for the next few years. Although Peters wore an Eagles hoodie from his home in Texas for the virtual interview, it seems unlikely that the Eagles will bring him back for 2021. Peters admitted so much in an interview with 6ABC earlier this season. Peters said Thursday the Eagles are in a “rebuilding phase” and want to get younger.

Lane Johnson on Eagles QB Jalen Hurts: ‘A joy to play with’ – Houston Chronicle
Count Philadelphia Eagles, veteran attacking tackle Lane Johnson as a believer in new starting quarterback Jalen Hurts. After the Eagles traded Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts, Hurts emerged as QB1 in Philadelphia. A former second-round pick from Oklahoma’s second round, the Channelview standout showed potential and skill as a rookie last season. In 14 games and three starts, Hurts passed for 1,061 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions, while completing 54.7 percent of his throws. He ran 320 yards and hit once and was fired 12 times. “I like Jalen a lot,” Johnson said in a telephone interview. ‘Jalen, he’s wearing well. He has a lot of balance. He works off his tail. He is a joy to be with, a joy to play with. He has that young energy and that’s what drives this league. I’m excited to have him. ”

NFL Mock Draft Simulation: DeVonta Smith and Defense – BGN
Pick 6: DeVonta Smith, wide receiver, Alabama. I feel like people got bored about how good DeVonta Smith is. Only a few weeks after I won the Heisman, I see people talking about him as if he is the fourth or fifth best option in this class. Madness. Smith may not have the front of some of his peers, but he is the biggest difference the Eagles desperately need. The assumption that Jalen Hurts is the starting quarterback, giving him a reliable target that could damage a defense from anywhere on the field.

NFL Draft Debate: Which Alabama WR has the lead, DeVonta Smith or Jaylen Waddle? – Athletics
Smith is the most polished and “pro-ready” in this class. Quarterbacks love his precise route and ability to catch the ball in traffic. He has the ability to find open space and he has already got two feet from sideline. There are not many weaknesses in Smith’s game, but his athletic profile is not an elite one. Smith should be productive from Day 1 and can play indoors and outdoors in any scheme. Although Smith would probably be more productive than Waddle earlier in their careers, I would bet on Waddle’s upside down if I had to choose between the two. It’s not just his track speed – he will not have a combination-40 for teams anyway. Waddle’s ability to divorce on film is special. In today’s wide-ranging game, he stands a chance to be a star. Again, he is not just a gadget player. He is a vertical threat in the field who has enough physicality to consistently beat NFL coverage. Although some may point to his lack of production as a negative, he was on track for a 1,800-plus yard season before his injury. It’s not a blow to Smith, both are excellent prospects. I just like Waddle’s ceiling more.

Lane Johnson paves the way for future athletes at his alma mater – PE.com
Johnson took advantage of his lone opportunity by making the unusual transition from quarterback to tight end, then from tight end to tackle, and then to a first-round pick and a steady Pro Bowl pick. None of that, however, would have happened if it had not been for the opportunity Lane was granted in the form of a scholarship offer from Kilgore College. And he put a lot of effort into repaying the school in the form of a $ 500,000 donation in 2019 that was used to build an athletics facility called the Lane Johnson Performance Center, which officially opened Thursday. For Johnson, it’s more than just having his name on the side of a building. It’s his way of giving future Kilgore College athletes the tools to get the most out of their chances – whether they’re theirs like Lane, or like many other junior college athletes, their last.

Movie Room: Carson Wentz, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – Part 3: Mental Processing – Stampede Blue
The other thing they can do, and this is perhaps the hardest thing of all, is to make Carson Wentz trust Frank Reich enough to play within his system, no matter what. Wentz cannot hesitate to throw a ball to a receiver who kicks his man over the middle, even if the receiver has dropped the last three passes thrown to his side. Wentz needs to trust the process and Frank Reich needs to convince him that it’s worth following. If the Colts can convince Carson Wentz to trust everyone around him, we can see that he’s playing really good football in 2021. If they can not convince him to do so, I do not really want to think about it.

Outlook of the week: Micah Parsons what the LB Giants fans have been waiting for? – Great blue view
Can Parsons the no. 11 be, even if a player like Waddle or DeVonta Smith is on the board? My guess, before we know anything about how free agency would turn out, is that the Giants would tend to get a vegetable weapon for Daniel Jones. After seeing what the addition of a player like Stefon Diggs to Josh Allen with the Buffalo Bills should be, adding a player with the potential to be a No. 1 receiver should be a big priority. The biggest priority for a team that has won 6-10 and has experienced one winning season for the past eight years is to add the best footballers, the best playmakers, regardless of their position. If the Giants sit at number 11, Parsons is available, and they rate him as the best football player they can add to the roster that will not surprise or bother me at all.

How important is it for the Dallas Cowboys to sign Aldon Smith again this season? – Blogging of the boys
Ultimately, the Cowboys do indeed have Lawrence, Gregory and Anae to lean on when it comes to fringe storms (don’t forget Dorance Armstrong, too, says Jerry Jones). Aldon will turn 32 at the start of the season and may play longer if he was a season back in the game. The risk may be small for the Cowboys, but we have seen that they do not want to waste too much with their side of the compensatory formula. Conventional wisdom says they let Aldon walk, but should they?

How bad are NFL teams at identifying the best QB in a given draft class? – The Ringer
Trevor Lawrence is the most popular QB prospect since Andrew Luck. For as much as he looks like a certain thing, however, history suggests he may not even be the best quarterback in the 2021 class.

An Investigation into Baker Mayfield’s UFO Encounter – SB Nation
Teams do not normally want their star backs to be distracted during the off-season, but I have to think there is an exception to a strange encounter. The real question is: why did aliens visit Baker Mayfield? And I think I have the answer. Any civilization capable of traveling fast would treat people as insignificant cosmic ants, but I would like to believe that there is still an inherent morality to them. Therefore, they will naturally be conditioned to root out the underdog. What better underdog than the Cleveland Browns? They were fans all along. When then do strangers start to see the browns? I assume there is enough coverage and scanning of our solar system that extraterrestrial animals do not come from our solar system, or use wormhole technology that will be recorded during scanning. So my assumption is that they came from Alpha Centauri, just over four light years away.

The Look Ahead # 26: Free Player WR Concept, NBA All Star Game Style – The SB Nation NFL Show
Rob “Stats” Guerrera and RJ Ochoa continue the SB Nation NFL Show rankings for free agents. Today we look at the wide receivers that can be on the market in less than two weeks. In honor of the NBA All Star Match draft tonight, we decided to each choose the five receivers who will score the best year next year (and of course a sixth man).
