Two Air Transat flights have infected so many people on board with COVID-19 that all passengers are now in danger of catching the virus, reports the Toronto Sun.

Flight TS663 AND TS665 – which take both passengers from Haiti to Montreal – have been identified by Health Canada as flights with several confirmed cases of coronavirus, the newspaper said.

Now passengers sitting in ‘all queues’ have been informed that they may have been exposed to the virus.

The Canadian government’s tracking system is used to notify passengers who may have been exposed to the virus. Usually specific rows are identified and those sitting there are advised to take the necessary precautions.

On this occasion, however, passengers from “all queues” – the whole of two planes – are advised to monitor their symptoms for 14 days themselves and immediately isolate them if symptoms occur.

The number of people warned about the COVID-19 infection is not known. The Air Transat is flying according to the Toronto Sun according to the Toronto Sun with wide-body Airbus A330s on the Haiti-Montreal route, with a capacity of up to 375 passengers.

According to government guidelines, passengers are also advised to contact public health authorities immediately if they become ill.

The news of this possible exposure follows a January 7 announcement by the Canadian government requiring all boarding flights to Canada to provide evidence of a negative coronavirus test.

Haiti, however, is an exception to the rule. Due to the limited testing capability, passengers flying from Haiti to Canada do not have to deliver a negative result.

Since the negative test requirement was introduced, more than 70 international flights that landed in Canada have carried passengers infected with COVID-19, according to the Toronto Sun.

Yesterday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told reporters that he did not rule out imposing an international travel ban.

The stricter restrictions would be a response to Canada’s recent increase in daily cases.
