E3’s 2021 regional event has been canceled, city pieces in LA claim

E3’s physical event for 2021 has been canceled, according to Los Angeles City documents published this week.

A new report, published by the Los Angeles Convention and Tourism Development Commission, lists a sales update E3 2021 as a ‘canceled live event’.

The document states that the conference board is collaborating with E3 organizer The Entertainment Software Association “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/entertainment-software-association/ “> Entertainment Software Association (ESA) on broadcast options at the Los Angeles Convention Center and the nearby LA Live complex. The city council also claims to be “working” on a 2022 and 2023 license for E3.

The cancellation is the second consecutive year that the E3 event has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

As revealed exclusively by VGC this month, The ESA went ahead with plans for a digital E3 event this summer, but it still requires the support of major gaming companies.

An LA city document contains a list of E3 2021 as canceled.

According to the E3 2021 field documents sent to VGC and viewed by VGC, the ESA has set out its proposals for this year’s event, which will hold three days of direct coverage during the previously announced dates of 15 to 17 June.

According to the ESA’s proposal, the broadcast event will be supplemented with media previews last week, as well as demos released on consumer platforms.

However, the E3 2021 plans still require the approval of ESA’s membership, which consists of the largest gaming companies in the industry and which has a significant influence on the direction of the show.

The ESA has already had a lot of pressure to rediscover E3, with several major publishers including Electronic Arts “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/electronic-arts/ “> EA, Sony Interactive Entertainment” href = ” https: //www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/sony/ “> Sony and Activision” href = “https://www.videogameschronicle.com/companies/activision-blizzard/activision/”> Activision has had the opportunity in recent years abandoned – and that was before the 2020 cancellation, after which many companies such as EA and Ubisoft were successful in running their own digital events.

Several sources for publishing games told VGC that they were working on the assumption that the physical event would not take place this year.

In a statement issued to VGC, the ESA said it would soon share exact details about this year’s E3 show, claiming it was having ‘good talks’ with developers and publishers, but would not confirm who for the opportunity entered.

“We can confirm that we are transforming the E3 experience for 2021 and will soon share precise details on how we bring the global video game community together,” an ESA spokesman said. “We’ve been having great conversations with publishers, developers and companies across the board, and we look forward to sharing details about their involvement soon.”

E3 2021’s live event has been canceled, the city documents in LA claim.

Former Nintendo “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/platforms/nintendo/ “> Nintendo boss Reggie Fils-Aimé said this month that he believes the ESA should act quickly when it comes to the historic game opportunity to save.

In an interview with Gamertag Radio, Fils-Aimé said that he sees reports of E3 returning digitally in 2021 and is not excited. “I have to say that what I read does not sound so convincing.”

“If I were king for a day, I’ll tell you how I would do it,” he said. ‘I do think that doing it digitally is absolutely right, and the reason for that is that there are more than the 60,000 people who would normally attend an E3. There are millions of others interested in finding out what’s going on and in running an event digitally, this is the way to bring it to life, so this is the way to go.

That said, I think the platformers need to find a way for their fans, their players, to experience the content, because that’s the key to E3 – the ability to play The Last of Us Part 3 for the first time, or to play the following The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild “href =” https://www.videogameschronicle.com/games/the-legend-of-zelda-series/the-legend-of-zelda -breath -of-the-wild / “> Breath of the Wild game for the first time, or to play the next amazing game that comes from the new merger of all the Xbox” href = “https: //www.videogameschronicle. com / platforms / xbox / “> Xbox Studios.

“Playing for the first time is magical and the platformers need to find out how they can deliver the experience to their fans during a digital experience with E3. I think it would be great. ”
