Financial services company E-Trade has restricted purchases of GameStop and AMC shares, a source said Bloomberg. The two stocks have become popular on forums such as the subreddit of r / WallStreetBets, and their prices have risen to unprecedented highs in the past week. (GameStop hit $ 483 earlier on Thursday and rose briefly during the day. Last Thursday, the stock closed at $ 43.)
We saw users on Twitter report that they could not buy the shares either.
eTrade also prohibits the purchase of Gamestop.

Welp, ETrade does not let me buy AMC shares online.

Bloomberg writes that an E-Trade representative declined to comment, and that the company did not immediately respond to a request The edge.
E-Trade follows other stock trading platforms to place restrictions on the stocks. Robinhood has added new limits to its app to restrict or trade GameStop, AMC and other stocks popular on r / WallStreetBets on Thursday morning. Angry Robinhood users are now asking for a class action lawsuit as a result and have even created a subreddit aimed at creating the lawsuit. Robinhood rivals Public and WeBull also restricted certain transactions for a period on Thursday before lifting the restrictions.
