Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has become one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood. But could he ride that wave of popularity all the way to the Oval Office? As Johnson’s new autobiographical sitcom, Young rock, serves as a crystal ball, then in 2032 it could be a possibility.
Young rock, which premieres on NBC on Tuesday, tells Johnson at three different ages. The Fast and furious star also appears by himself in every episode in the current day USA Today, while reflecting on his life in ridiculous interviews while running for president.
Johnson spoke earlier about presidential ambitions and said in 2017 he would one day seriously consider a run. It has not changed.
“I will consider a presidential election in the future if that is what the people want,” he said. USA Today. “Truly, I mean it, and I’m not at all fickle with my answer. It would depend on the people … so I would wait and listen. I have my finger on the pulse, my ear to the ground.”
President Johnson would not be the craziest thing, given everything that has happened in his 48 years. The actor praised the series creator Nahnatchka Khan for perfectly tackling his’ wild Forrest Gump-ian life that I had happy, (which was) complex, awesome and crazy and incredible.
Johnson said he welcomes the opportunity to “look back at things and laugh and deliver them to the public in a way that makes them smile and laugh.”
One anecdote that can delight the audience is to learn how Johnson’s nickname grew up: Dewey. Young rock examines Johnson as an ancestor, played by Adrian Groulx, and the actor admitted that he is still haunted by the monk.
In an interview with the New York Times, Johnson said “my mom calls me Dewey all the time.”
“And unfortunately she calls me that in public,” he exclaimed. ‘I hated the name when I was young – hated it every time my parents would call me that in front of girls, teachers and my friends. And it got stuck. ‘
Johnson told the Times he was heavily involved in the cast of the series.
“And I was able to spend some time with them before I shot, and let them know how I was during that time,” he says. “What I thought were my priorities. The times, more importantly, that I fell on my ass and that I had to get up. It was surreal in itself. The thing that really drew my cold, black heartstrings was around the actors. to play my mom, dad and grandma and spend time with them. While we are having these conversations, they will start talking about what they know about my mom and my grandma and dad. [snaps fingers], within seconds I’ll be fine. ‘
Johnson said his mother was his ‘consigliere’ while she helped create the show.
‘She felt we could show the difficult people [expletive] and the hard [expletive] because we went through it, “he added. This is the lesson. Hopefully people who are having a hard time going through [expletive]can also see that there is a way out. You can get to the other side of it. ‘
Young rock debuted Monday night on NBC.
