Durham County announces a hiatus over vaccination of vaccines due to limited supplies; existing appointments will be adhered to :: WRAL.com

The Durham County Department of Public Health announced Thursday that it will temporarily suspend its vaccine appointment schedule due to a limited COVID-19 vaccine supply, which is effective immediately.

The Department of Public Health will also not add new vaccination dates to its online booking site until a later date has to be set.

No scheduled vaccination appointments are currently being canceled or postponed, although some appointments will be moved from Durham Health Department to Southern High School venue from Monday, February 1st. Persons whose appointments need to be moved to Southern High School will be contacted by phone or email.

“We are very grateful that we do not have to cancel any current appointments, but as Secretary Cohen explained to the public at the news conference earlier this week, the unfortunate reality is that demand far exceeds supply,” said Rod Jenkins, health director. , said. . “Durham County has a baseline of 600 first doses for the next three weeks, and we are uncertain when our allocation will increase. It is best to stop scheduling until we trust that we can meet additional appointments.”

Although the Department of Public Health expects to be able to honor the appointments already scheduled, the public is encouraged to keep abreast of accurate sources of information and communication from our team, as the provision of vaccines is subject to change.

“We hope to be able to reopen our scheduling process by the end of February and see a larger offer, but that is uncertain at the moment. We will continue to provide more information as it is received,” Jenkins said.

Individuals in vaccination phase 1 and 2 can still opt in to the COVID-19 vaccination waiting list at tinyurl.com/DCoVaccineWaitlist in English or tinyurl.com/DCoListaVacunas in Spanish to receive a call if vaccine doses are available due to cancellations of the appointment or not performances.
